Call me boring, or call me comfortable

My last fashion rant was about girls not being able to walk in sky scraper high stiletto heels - believe me, I am one of them - and I must admit that I have utter respect for the ones who can actually walk in them without looking like Bambi on ice (or without twisting their ankles). Stilettos are for me just something to dream about. Sure, my feet look gorgeous in them, and as I wrote in my last post, I’m OK wearing them for an hour or so, but I guess I’m just too lazy when it comes to looking good sometimes. I just don’t think it’s worth being in pain to look good.
What I can walk in though, are shoes with wedge heels. They are so much more comfortable than normal heels, plus it does the job with making me taller. I’m not talking extremely high, super heavy, clumsy platform wedges here, but wedges that are more of a reasonable height and that are easy to walk in. The wedge heel gives the foot more of a support compared to normal heels, and you don’t have
to put all your weight on your toes while walking in them.

So call me boring, or call me comfortable - but by wearing a pair of shoes like these, I will be the one still standing when the night is over. Dancing away...

While browsing the internet the other day I found these two pairs of absolutely stunning wedges that I’m going to add to my mental wish list. They're both very me - the black leather ones are a bit more rocky, while the suede ones are more old fashioned and inspired by the style of the early 1900's. Love them!

Feet killing, to die for-stilettos

-->
You know when you’re out on a Saturday night, but you’re quite sober, and you look around and see all these over dressed girls walking, or actually staggering around, in their heels that are at least two inches too high… They have probably spent all week planning what to wear for this night out and probably all day getting ready. They think they look the best they ever have looked, and maybe they do… until the vodka kicks in, and the short skirts reveal a bit more than intended.
They can no longer walk in their high heels because of their burning feet and the alcohol messing with their balance, but tip toe half limping, looking like sad, wobbling creatures about to fall over any second. That’s when I ask myself why. Why?!
Sure, they say that we need to suffer to look good, (or at least that’s what my mum told me when I pierced my ears the day before my 8th birthday and I was complaining about the pain) and I can understand that. But looking stupid is something totally different. If you can’t walk in heels – don’t walk in heels!
I know I would look like the most stupid girl ever if I put a pair of stiletto heels on. I know that I wouldn’t be able to walk in them for more than an hour, and that is exactly why I don’t wear them. I know girls won’t stop wearing these feet killing things, and maybe you can’t blame them, because to be honest, shoes like that is a dream to look at. All I can do is to laugh at these girls in silence while passing them in my comfortable lower heels on a Saturday night...

Black rock chick vs Colourful skirt freak

Back in school I was never interested in fashion. To be honest I can't say that I am now either, but if you could have seen the teenager version of me standing next to the up to date me you would probably barely see that those two girls were the same person. Even if I don't follow the fashion I sure have developed a totally different style from what I used to have. The teenager me loved trashy jeans, simple t-shirts and worn out, scribbled on converse shoes - I was all about what was comfortable (or what other people would call boring). On top of that there was a touch of some rocky accessories like chains and big earrings with skull motives. Yep, my metal chic period. And of course I had to colour my blonde hair pitch black, even if my dad threatened me that if I did I would have to cut the lawn with a pair of nail scissors. (I never had to in the end)

Today's version of me still loves to listen to heavy metal, but has given up on colouring the hair darker. (it just wasn't worth it having to run to H&M or what ever shop to buy hair dye all the time) I'm not a slave of fashion and can barely name any of the famous designers, but I sure have changed my style. I have a thing for skirts -I just can't have too many skirts, and leggings -what would I be without leggings!? Over all I would say that I dress way more colourful nowadays. Black isn't that flattering after all...

Here is a little collage of what the 17 year old me vs the 23 year old me prefer to wear.
