Get your legs out!

The British summers aren't known to be great. They're usually pretty crap to be honest.
Rainy and cloudy, and you're happy if the temperature goes above 20 °C.

I'm used to the Swedish summers where you can start dressing in tops and short skirts in May already, and all throughout the summer up until early September. You can easily get a Mediterranean-looking, proper brown tan by spending your summer in Sweden. But those sunny days are behind me...

Since I am now living in the north of England I don't get to see the sun much, and up here it seems as if people are afraid of the sun. Girls walk around in leggings all summer long and never let their legs out!

But with the lovely summer weather we've had this past weekend (I know, wow!), and today, I see no reason not to get your legs out. They'll thank you for getting to spend some time in the sun, and for getting a little bit of a healthy tan. No rub on fake tan from a bottle, but the real deal!

Don't forget the sun screen though. You don't want to end up with legs red as tomatoes.

Tribute post: 80'SGLAM ROCK AND BON JOVI

As I am off to see the cult band of 80's glam rock bands -BON JOVI- in Manchester tonight, I thought I would do a little tribute post and put together a glam rock outfit of items found in today's high street shops. The rules for a glam rock outfit is simple: leather, studs, skin-tight jeans, bright colours, and leopard prints. Oh, and for God's sake, DON'T FORGET THE HAIRSPRAY!! To achieve a genuine glam rock look you definitely need "poodle hair" like Jon Bon Jovi. So start spraying!

Leather jacket from H&M - £29.99
Skinny, ripped, light denim jeans from River Island £44.99
Leopard print scarf from TOPSHOP £16
Vibrant pink top from H&M (sale) £2.99
Studded leather belt from River Island £19.99
Cowboy boots with studded details from Barratts £30
TRESemmé superior hold hairspray from Boots £4.79

Sex and the City fashion: Samantha Jones

The last, but not the least, of the Sex and the City girls is Samantha Jones. And to be honest –she’s my favourite. I would say that Samantha is the most eccentric of them all. Even though she may not be the classiest of girls on the inside, she doesn't show it on the outside - she always dresses in absolutely stunning outfits. She is a career woman, and even though she often dresses in the typical officy pencil skirt and suit jacket, she makes sure that she does it in a very feminine way, showing off her curves.
Samantha is lucky to have the type of body that just suits any outfit. She would literally look great in anything. She won't accept the fact that she's getting old, and probably wouldn't know what "dress your age" means, and she doesn't have to!
I love the fact that she isn't afraid of dressing in vibrant colours, and big chunky accessories. It's kind of like the tells the world "look at me!" through her clothes. She wants everyone's eyes on her, and I don't blame her.

Vibrant and bold: Samantha is a big fan of vibrant colours that make her stand out from a crown. She matches her colourful outfits with big chunky accessories. A match made in heaven!
Dressy casual: You never really see Samantha in very casual clothes, but even her "casual" clothes are pretty officy. Here with a typical officy pencil skirt, where she has simply swapped the jacket with a flowing top.
Special occasion: What more than bright colours make you syand out from a crownd? Glitter and dresses where you show lots of flesh!
Work: Samantha is a business woman, and loves her office outfits - and did I mention that she loves bright colours? ;)

Sex and the City fashion: Carrie Bradshaw

After a little break where I posted a great guest post from a fellow fashion blogger, I am now continuing with my Sex and the City fashion posts. You might have thought that my third Sex and the City fashion blogpost would be about Samantha, and that I would save Carrie Bradshaw for last. But nope!
Carrie is the one that experiments the most with her style. While the other girls may not take big fashion risks, Carrie does. She loves her fashion, and has a thing for designer shoes. She would, without a doubt, give up on good food for a month just to be able to buy a pair of shoes by Jimmy Choo or Manolo Blahnik. It’s all about the shoes! Carrie is one of those persons who wouldn’t mind going for a night out in the same clothes that she wore all day – as long as she gets to change into a pair of sky scraper high designer shoes.
Carrie has so many different styles that it’s difficult knowing where to start describing them. One day she might dress in a very girly outfit with peachy colours and ruffles, the next day she might dress in something a little bit boho-like with big patterns and flowing fabrics, and the day after that she might opt for a more sophisticated style including a pencil skirt or a pair of officy trousers, and a dressy top. Whatever style she goes for though, there is one thing you know she will always match her outfit with, and that is a pair of heels.

A New Way to Check a Pair of New Jeans Out BEFORE Buying Them

How many t
imes have you brought a new pair of jeans to the dressing room and had to bend back around just to see how your butt looked in those jeans? Probably far too many times. And it is so funny because you never seem to get an accurate view. In the long run, you tend to rely on what you can see and decide to buy those jeans --- or not.

But lately, a few stores have started to include a monitor (ass-cam) on their mirrors in the dressing room. These monitors allow you to get an accurate view of how the new jeans fit on your butt. Thus, you are spared the agony of deciding whether or not to buy the new jeans. If the new jeans don't look right to you in that area, you just don't buy them! With the money that jeans cost nowadays, you want to make sure that you're getting a product that you know that you will wear and be worth their price.

I also think that it would be a great idea to extend this to other clothing items, such as coats and jackets and even bathing suits! There would be no need to crain yourself around like a giraffe trying to see how everything looks from the back.

Sex and the City fashion: Miranda Hobbes

The second Sex and the City girl that I’ve decided to write about is Miranda Hobbes. Miranda is the most career-minded of the 4 girls, and you mostly see her in typical work outfits such as shirts, suit jackets and dressy tops. In the beginning of the series Miranda wears a more masculine style of clothes, but throughout the years her style becomes more and more feminine. In the second Sex and the City movie she dresses a bit hippyish (but in a stylish way) with long flowing patterned maxi dresses, paired with big, chunky jewellery.
Outside of work Miranda likes to dress in colourful outfits, with very earthy hues. I must say that I admire her for her outfits – it can’t be easy to match them with such red hair! But she does it brilliantly. She always looks very sophisticated and stylish.
With her slim figure she suits most styles, but the style I like the best is probable the hippie-inspired look. I think she looks absolutely stunning in colours like olive green.
Casual: You don’t see Miranda in casual outfits very often. Her everyday outfits are always very dressy. This flowing, orange dress is a perfect example of a dressy-casual outfit.
Party:
When out partying with the girls Miranda prefers
to go for really glamorous outfits with daring cuts, which suits her slim figure perfectly.
Work:
Since Miranda has to go for a very professional look for work, a typical office shirt is what she normally wears to work. She prefers dressy suit trousers to match with
it over skirts.
Special occasion:
Miranda prefers to dress in classic and sophisticated dresses for special occasions. You would probably say that she dresses more “grown-up” for these types of occasions than the other girls do. They would go for a more glamorous style.

Sex and the City fashion: Charlotte York

As the true Sex and the City fan that I am I have decided to do a post for each of my 4 favourite New York girls (their characters that is, not their 'real' selves).
They are 4 best friends who knows pretty much everything about each other, but they are still 4 completely different personalities, with their own personal styles.
First up is Charlotte York. Charlotte is the most emotional, naive
and traditional of the SATC girls, and people often see her as quite prude and conservative. She prefers a look that is very natural and classic, and she often wears pencil skirts and dresses that does not reveal much flesh. At the same time she has got a thing for very girly garments, with bright colours and flowery patterns that reflect her constant optimism.
Charlotte would never take a fashion risk like Carrie would, and she has got enough self control not to end up buying items on an impuls. Some would call her style a bit boring. I would simply call it classic, elegant and sophisticated.Party: Charlotte would normally go for something simple and colourful when out for some cocktails with the other girls.
Casual: Casual for Charlotte means cute, and that's when she likes to wear really girly colours and patterns.
Work: A typical work outfit for Charlotte would be a pencil dress in
a neutral colour.
Special occasion: When it's a special occasion Charlotte dresses up as a real fashion queen with ruffles, glitz and glam. Often in very dramatic colours.

The unforgettable style of Marilyn Monroe

One of the greatest fashion icons of the 20th century is the legendary Marilyn Monroe who taught us that diamonds are a girl's best friend. She had a lasting effect on Hollywood, and there has been many stars who have copied her style, such as Madonna, Anna Nicole Smith, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Christina Aguilera and Michelle Williams. But all of these women don't even have half the beauty, class, grace and sophistication that Marilyn had.
The famous actress Megan Fox has a tribute tattoo of the late Marilyn on her right arm, as a reminder never to let the film industry treat her so badly that it breaks her down.
The white flowing halter-neck dress and the blood red lips are the attributes that characterise Marilyn Monroe, and this combination is a style that will forever be a classic look, and that will never go out of style.
The Herald Sun from last week wrote an article on this particular dress from the 1955 film "Seven Year Itch". On the 18th on June this year Marilyn's white dress is being auctioned by an iconic film costumes collector in Beverly Hills, and is expected to be sold for $2.000.000
Marilyn Monroe should have had her 85th birthday yesterday, on the 1st on June.
-"I am not interested in money. I just want to be wonderful."
