5 fashion essential for Autumn

Yes, there's no denying it - Autumn is upon us.
Those floaty skirts and open toe sandals have been replaced by full length jeans and ankle boots.
The highstreet shops have filled their racks with tons of new trends, and to be honest, it can be a bit confusing knowing which of all these trends to go for.

Below are my five 2013 Autumn essentials, that I believe every fashionista could do with adding to their wardrobe.

Dusky pink
This is the key colour of this season. A bit of an odd one compared to the usual orange and reds that usually come out in the Autumn, But believe be - all major designers have included this lovely dusky pink hue in their collections this year.

LBD
A little black dress is not just for this season, but for any season, and every woman should have one in their possession. This particular number is by French Connection. I just love the collar and the flaired skirt.

Leather jacket
Leather jackets will just never go out of style. The cut will change from year to year, but you just can go wrong with a neutral cut leather jacket for Autumn. The typical style for this year though is the biker inspired cut.

Biker boots
Just like with the leather jacket, the boots of this year are focused on a biker chic style. Leather and buckles all the way!

Leopard print
Animal prints, and especially leopard print is back big time, and has been for a while now. Don't go all the way out, but learn to accessorise with this particular pattern. Go for the usual leopard print colours, or opt for bright colours such as red or cobalt blue.

The outfit of a tourist in Italy

When visiting Italy, don't you feel the pressure of looking all stylish?
I went to Venice a few weeks ago, and as the typical tourist I am I knew I was going to do lots of walking, but I still wanted to look a bit nice, and not cross the canals in shorts and trainers.
Two of this season's trends are crop tops and cobalt blue, and on this particular day I decided to combine the two.
I absolutely love this Boohoo skirt with its Aztec pattern!
What about the crop top though?
I must admit I've been very sceptical towards crop tops since they entered the highstreet shops.
However, paired with a high waisted skirt I kind of like them.
What do you think of my "tourist in Italy"-look?
Don't look at the shoes - OK?!
They're my comfy walking shoes for warm countries.
I would never risk missing out on a tourist sight because of sore feet, so I avoid heels at all cost. Even if it makes my otherwise kind of stylish outfit look a bit dressed down.
What do you tend to wear when on a city holiday?

Warehouse - Style me if you can

As you will know if you've read my blog in the last month, I recently reviewed a lovely dress from Warehouse. Ever since, I've been following Warehouse on their various social channels, and I noticed last week that they've been running an amazing social campaign on their Facebook and YouTube channel.

The campaign is promoting their 90 minute delivery option, and is in the form of 9 short videos.
The videos follow a woman who changes her outfit every 90 minutes in one day, for various events in her life. It starts with the meeting with a friend in a café, then she goes for a job interview, takes the dog for a walk in the park, meets a guy and goes to the cinema, etc.
It’s a really sweet and clever campaign, called ‘Style me if you can’.

Tied in with this is a competition. The thing is that people have submitted their favourite outfits from Warehouse for this campaign, and the finalists got to see their particular outfits in one of the short films. They are now competing against each other for an amazing trip to NYC!

Anyway – you can see all the short videos in the widget embedded in this blogpost.
Let me know what you think, and which outfit you liked the most :)

ghd celebrates 10 year partnership Breakthrough Breast Cancer

Are you a fan of the hair styling brand ghd? I thought so! I mean, who isn’t? ;)

They’ve just launched their limited edition Pink Diamond styler, which is in collaboration with Breakthrough Breast Cancer, and for every pink styler sold £10 goes to this organisation.

In fact, this collaboration has been going on for 10 years, and to highlight their 10th anniversary ghd has created this lovely infographic below, showcasing the different pink stylers from past years, as well as the total donations made.

This year’s Pink Diamond styler is part if the gorgeous limited edition Jewel collection, which also comes in the colours Sapphire, Amethyst and Emerald. However, it’s only the Pink Diamond styler that is in collaboration with Breakthrough Breast Cancer. A really great cause!

Cruise, gala night and a lilac dress

For my 27th birthday (yes, I'm that old!) my lovely boyfriend took me on a Thomson cruise in the Adriatic sea (just east of Italy). Isn't he a catch? ;) Perfect present!
We flew from Leeds to Corfu in Greece where we boarded the ship, and during the week at sea we visited Koper (Slovenia), Venice (Italy) Sibenik and Dubrovnik (Croatia), and Kotor (Montenergro).

On the second night on the ship the captain had arranged a big gala dinner, and for that everyone needed to suit up. All the men were wearing full suits and ties, and the ladies were wearing fancy dresses.
The dress I was wearing was a lilac creation from Warehouse. It's made out of thin sheer fabric in layers, and has some lace details on the chest.
I'm absolutely loving the colour and the material. The only thing I was worried about when I ordered it was that it wouldn't be a good fit with it being a zip-up dress made with non-stretchy material... but the dress fits like a glove!
This was actually a gift from the lovely people at Warehouse. Very generous - thank you! At £65 it's not exactly a steal, but I'd say it's definitely worth that price, cause you can tell the dress if of the highest quality fabric, and it's very well made.

I matched the dress with my new strappy sandals from New Look, which I have practically been living in during the last few weeks. They're really comfy, and the taupe colour just goes with everything!

I can't say my bright blue nail polish goes very well with the outfit, but at least it matches the sea (and the ship's floor!).

It was a lovely gala night and an amazing week overall. This was my first ever cruise, and I would definitely go on another one in the future!
