What does your nail polish say about you?

I’ve always been a big fan of nail polish –perhaps because of my super long, claw-like nails that are close to impossible to cut. When I was younger I used to paint them all in different colours and patterns. Once, I actually painted the UK flag on my thumb nails!

I came across a website the other day where it said what the different colours of nail polishes means, and what it says about your personality;

Clear

Clear nail polish colours are for people who are very neutral. This kind of nail polish portrays that you are very easy-going and don't get upset very easily. You don't need the attention of others every minute of the day and you are happy with yourself the way you are.

Pastel

People wearing pastel coloured nail polish are the friendliest ones of the lot. Wearing pastel nail polish says that you are very gentle. The downside to this colour is that it shows that you can be materialistic and are prone to being vain.

Hot pink

This colour is for the funky and spicy. A very feminine colour, hot pink is for the kids who embrace a bit of girliness.

Pale pink

Again this colour is for people who embrace their femininity. But being a more subtle shade this colour shows that you are very timid and don't want to stand out. You're not a complete wallflower but you have a soft side.

Red

This colour tells people you are lively. You are strong and want things to go your way - all the time. You are also a passionate character and it goes without saying that you are extremely outgoing. Parties are your favourite thing in the world and you need to be noticed.

Blue

Blue is the colour of authority. Put it on and people will know you're in charge. Blue also has that masculine edge and shows people you like to channel your inner boy.

Aqua

You're totally zen. You're calm and collected. You're super relaxed and nothing in the world can disturb you.

Purple

Purple is the colour of royalty. This colour also shows sophistication. You have spectacular manners, refined taste in fashion, food and fun, and you also carry a quiet confidence that is the envy of others.

Metallics

Your biggest wish in the world is to shine. People who wear metallics also love jewellery and you're usually so covered in it people often mistake you for a magpie. Your love for metallic colours stems from your desire to be rich. You love gold. You love money. And your life's desire is to own a palace. All in all - you're pretty bummed you weren't born a Queen.

Orange

People who wear orange are the most optimistic of the lot. They are bright and vibrant and nothing will get them down.

Brown or green

Brown or green coloured nail polishes are for the nature-loving lot. Energetic and spiritual, you love Mother Nature.

French manicure

This nail colour is the epitome of glamour. No one can quite keep up with your style and za-zoom. You don't need to say too much as your natural elegance exudes enough already.

Carrie's designer wedding dresses

I was never a fan of Sex and the City when the series first started, but it was just a couple of years ago that I started watching it. I was hooked! And after having watched quite a few episodes I bought the whole DVD box with all the seasons. I watched all the episodes, from the first to the last one. We all know that Sarah Jessica Parker, in her role as Carrie Bradshaw, is a true fashionista, and the outfits she’s wearing in the series are absolutely fabulous. I am questioning some of the clothes she’s wearing – there have been some really awful outfits – but most of them are gorgeous. When the first Sex and the City film came out it was just like a 2 hour fashion show. I especially liked the scene with the wedding dress photo shoot. The dresses are amazing! And even though Carrie didn’t end up getting married in any of them, we are still allowed to admire them. Which dress do you think is the nicest one?

My accidental purchase

I accidentally bought some shoes yesterday. A pair of Hush Puppies mid heel lace up shoes. I blame it all on my workmate who is a true shopaholic, who dragged me to town during our lunch break to check out the Barratts sale.
I only walked in to that shop to buy some soles for a pair of boots that I've got that are too big. But after having paid for them, I saw, in the corner of my eye, a gorgeous pair of tan lace up brogues.
The style was a bit like the shoes of the 1920's, with a mid-heel and pretty detailed patterns on the toe. And with a price tag that said sale, I just had to buy them!
They are real leather, and they look great together with my new black military style dress and a pair of red earrings, which is what I am wearing today.
I feel pretty, oh so pretty... :)

That perfect purple dress

YES PLEASE!

I just came across this dress on the internet, and I fell in love with it straight away.
It's just my style, and it would be perfect for this spring and summer. Perfect as a dinner dress, perfect for a night out, and perfect for just any summer day.
The problem is; I don't know where to get it from! I just found this random picture online, but it doesn't say what shop it's from. Gutted!
So if anyone out there recognises this dress and know where it's from, please let me know!

Comfy, glamorous, sexy black dresses

All of a sudden I’ve got a thing for black dresses. From not having owned pretty much one single dress just a few months ago (no decent ones anyway), I now own quite a few. I bought 3 dresses last week! My excuse though is that I found them in the January sales.

So in my collection of black dresses there is now a knee-long flowing dress with ‘wing’ sleeves from Dorothy Perkins, a short knitted military style dress that’s very wintery, another short dress with a wide belt and layered details, a satin cocktail dress with open back, and the latest one in my collection is one that I found online just a couple of days ago that hasn’t arrived yet. It’s more of a ‘formal’ dress that would be nice to wear in the office, or out for dinner.

Somewhere over the rainbow

First post of the year, and all I have to say is that I saw a woman wearing some extremely ugly, rainbow coloured tights this morning on my way to work.
Sometimes I wonder what people are thinking when they put together their outfits, and why in the world you would buy certain garments, such as these tights.
Oh well... Happy New Year!

A treat for myself that helps me find my way home

I don’t know about you all, but I don’t really like getting money for Christmas. Getting a present from someone is so much more personal, and it means a lot to me. I only give presents to my family and my closest friends, and I know that they all know me well enough to get me something that I like.

However, my sweet old grandma always gets me money instead of presents, and I always just spend it on… yeah what? That’s the thing –you spend the money on everyday stuff that you don’t even remember. So this year I thought that I would buy something really nice for the money she gave me.

I love unusual jewellery. Earrings and necklaces. You can never have too many of them. I wouldn’t really wear bracelets cause of my tiny wrists, but I’ve got quite a collection of earrings and necklaces. When I was visiting my family in Sweden the other week I walked in to a shop and immediately fell in love with a necklace in there. It was a long steel chain with a clip on pendant in two pieces –a steel ring with the writing SWEDEN*EUROPE*THE WORLD on it, and in the middle is a little globe that you can spin. It’s a trendy designer brand called Rirem. I thought that this suited me very well, since I live abroad –and this is my way of thinking of the place where I belong. Cheesy, I know. But I like it ;)

My mum and I chose a similar necklace for my sister. It’s of the same design, with the steel ring and a ball in the middle. But hers was cerise coloured with the text “Don’t live faster than your angels can fly”
